Decking
Framed to carry it, finished to be used
On the hillsides around Marin and the Sonoma valleys, a deck is often the only flat ground a house has — which means it is structure, not decoration. The frame is the job. Footings sized and set below grade, posts and beams to span, joists at proper centres, hardware that suits the timber, and flashing where the ledger meets the house, because a badly flashed ledger rots the wall behind it long before anything shows. On top of that we lay redwood, cedar, or composite, with the fasteners set consistently and the boards run to a line. Steps, railings, benches, and skirting are part of the same build rather than an afterthought bolted on later, and we will tell you honestly when a deck wants a permit rather than finding out afterwards.
Our Process
Measure and Design
Height, span, access, and what you will actually use it for — sitting, dining, or getting down a slope.
Footings and Frame
Footings dug and poured, posts and beams set, joists hung square. Everything that matters is under the boards.
Deck and Detail
Boards run to a line with consistent fixings, then steps, railings, and edges finished.
Clean and Hand Over
Off-cuts and hardware cleared, the ground under and around the deck left tidy.
